Greyhound Rescue Scotland (Registered Scottish Charity No: SC033346) was formed in 2001 and since that date the charity has always been run by a group of unpaid volunteers - we are therefor reliant on public donations to allow us to continue helping what we believe are wonderful animals who deserve a better life.
Our aims are to rescue and re-home greyhounds and lurchers, be they registered or unregistered not only from the tracks at Armadale, Ayr, Corbiewood, Thornton, Gretna and Shawfield but also from council kennels, dog wardens and veterinary surgeons.
We aim to inform and educate the public about the past and present lives of greyhounds and how they easily make good pets and can live with other dogs and cats - some are happily living with rabbits!
All dogs re-homed by us are fostered by one of our valuable foster carers in their own homes and are carefully assessed - no dogs are released directly from a previous owner or trainer. Through this procedure we become familiar with the personality of each dog learning about its likes and dislikes. While in care each dog will have a thorough health check by one of our veterinary surgeons and receive any necessary medical treatment. Before homing all dogs are neutered and micro-chipped. After adoption we are in contact with new owners until their new dog is happily settled and we are always thrilled to see dogs and owners at our events. Pictures are appreciated for adding to our rehomed dogs section.
If you would like any other information or would like to adopt one of our dogs or would like to become a foster carer or help us in any other way then please contact us
