If you think you are you ready to adopt please read on.

If you can answer yes to the following statements then a greyhound is the dog for you. If you answer mostly yes and are still interested in adopting a greyhound please contact us and we will find out if we can help you make a suitable home for a greyhound.

I understand a greyhound is an indoor, family pet - not a guard dog.

I can give a dog a good, caring home and promise that the dog will not be raced, sold or used for breeding, abandoned or given away.

My garden is secure with fencing over 4 foot high in good repair.

I understand it will be necessary to keep my greyhound on a leash unless in a secure area.

I agree the dog will not be allowed to stray or cause nuisance to neighbours or members of the public and that the dog will be walked on a lead unless it is being exercised in a safe place.

I understand a sight hound has been trained to chase and will not allow the dog to be a nuisance or to worry livestock or small animals. I understand that I am liable for any damage resulting from my negligence.

I have the patience and time to help a former racer to adjust to its new life (I appreciate this may take several months)

I am aware there is considerable finance occurred in keeping a dog and confirm that I am of sufficient means to provide the dog with a fit and healthy lifestyle.

I will seek veterinary care for my dog when necessary and without hesitation.

I will keep the dog regularly vaccinated and wormed throughout its life.

In the case of my holding a tenancy I confirm that there is nothing within my lease preventing the ownership or keeping of a dog.

I understand that by law I must have an identity tag on my dog at all times showing my name and telephone number.

I am not legally disqualified under any current animal welfare, prevention of cruelty or other relevant legislation from owning, caring for or otherwise having access to any animal in either a current or previous capacity.

I understand that a home visit will be carried out by Greyhound Rescue Scotland before I will be allowed to adopt a greyhound.

I understand further visits will be made to ensure my dog is settled and happy.

I understand that the dog may be repossessed at any time if it is felt I am not giving the proper care and attention.

I understand that a minimum non refundable cash donation of £90 is required to adopt a greyhound from Greyhound Rescue Scotland
